How to Use the Bill Splitting Calculator
Our bill splitting calculator makes it easy to divide expenses fairly among friends, roommates, or travel companions. Here's how to get started:
Step 1: Add People
Start by adding all the people who will be sharing expenses. Click the "Add" button in the People section and enter each person's name. You can add as many people as needed.
Step 2: Create Projects (Optional)
If you have multiple events or trips, create projects to organize your expenses. For example, create a "Trip to Jeju" project or "Office Party" project to keep things organized.
Step 3: Add Events/Expenses
For each expense, add an event with:
- Event name (e.g., "Dinner at Restaurant")
- Total amount
- Who paid
- Who participated (check all people who should split this expense)
Step 4: View Settlements
The calculator automatically calculates who owes whom and how much. The Settlement Summary shows the minimum number of transactions needed to settle all debts.
Frequently Asked Questions
The calculator tracks each person's total payments and their share of expenses. It then calculates the net balance for each person and determines the minimum number of transfers needed to settle all debts. This ensures everyone pays their fair share with the fewest transactions possible.
